Bread Fruit

The breadfruit is egg shaped and can weigh up to a kilo, with a diameter of 30 centimetres. The flesh is flaky, moist and soft. Unripe fruits emit an unpleasant odour which disappears as soon as the fruit is ripe. The breadfruit is usually cooked or served as a curry or eaten immediately after cooking. The fruit is sometimes also used as a replacement for rice in certain dishes.
